Currently I am leading a major redesign of a web productivity app. I am working directly with developers in a product team to bring in a new version of Mailstrom app.

Scope of work: UI Flows, responsive mockups, design system, animations, marketing assets, video editing.

During the need-finding phase we’ve gathered insights through surveys, analytics, and by reaching out directly to existing customers.

Based on needs and expectations we have identified three distinct user segments: "Overwhelmed", "Optimizer", "In a hurry".

User feedback was sorted into themes and each one was given a priority. Then I did an UX audit to look for any other outstanding issues. After the research phase I moved on to prototyping and visual design.

Original design consisted of three equally positioned columns, but in fact the second column determined the content for the third one. Making this relation clear, with both visual cues and headers was my first priority.

Email grouping modes were the main feature and the first thing you should pick before starting your cleanup. New design makes it the most prominent element.

Improved hierarchy made it easy to add the most requested features, like folder support, filters and sorting.

I created a component library, to speed up the development process and ensure consistency across all views and devices.

We build a live style guide, dynamically updating to show the current state of the app. This made it easy to compare the React components with their Figma counterparts.

Currently we are gathering feedback from beta testers and via A/B tests. Those insights are shaping the next iteration of the design.

In the meantime I am supporting marketing efforts by preparing illustrations, animations and videos showing our app in action.
